From the moment she was born her parents knew she was different. At a young age she was attached to pointe shoes. She would try them on her feet anytime she could, even though they did not fit. Also, she would try and bend herself like a pretzel. She kept trying to lift her leg even higher or try and give the floor a kiss in the middle of a stretch. Each day she became more fascinated with the idea of dance. She would tell her parents of the dream she had. One day she would be the star of the stage.
One day her parents decided to take her and her sister out to the beach. She immediately connected with the water. She stood at the shoreline and tried to the way the water would move. Her movements were very graceful and flowing. She would turn in the sand like the way the ocean formed a curling wave. She would go from slow and peaceful movement to strong and forceful by the way the wave would change. She and the ocean were like one, each moving peaceful and strong. She danced on the shoreline till dusk, until finally she had to leave.
When she returned home she bombarded her parents to let her take dance classes. Her parents said yes, and the following week she was entering her first dance class. There she was taught all the different name for each movement she would learn. She learned how to plié, relevé, and most importantly how to point and turn out her toes. She was always eager to return to dance class, and to learn more challenging things. Her dance teacher could see that she connected with dance, and new she would be great someday.
She still loves dance class and continues with her improvements each time, but she still dances the best at the beach. She loves to feel the sand around her toes as she spins into the ground. The ocean still is the source of her movements. From the start of a wave when she dances calm and peaceful till the moment of the break were she would jump and hit the ground ever so lightly. She is always known from her movements that she forms by the shoreline.
